I think this porthole window is so cool. I am loving the finish and depth of the walls, too...

This is a feature that is on my must have list for a future home:
Oval windows on either side of a front door.

A bright and cheery breakfast area, sure to wake up the sleepiest of children...:)

One of my all time favorite dining rooms. I love the contrast of the pumpkin linen (!), enormous chandelier and rougher elements in the industrial windows, stone and wood.

A transom window lets in some light and adds style while still maintaing privacy.

These windows add so much to the architecture and allow full enjoyment of what looks to be a beautiful view!

These windows aren't remarkable individually, but their repetition is a great feature.
Skylights can also create great effect too...
What's your favorite type of window?
Also, thanks so much to all of you for weighing in on that highly unusual bedroom that I featured a few days ago. I really enjoyed everyone's feedback on it and got a kick out of the responses! Keep 'em coming...:)

Now who cleans these windows? Please send them over to my house? My favorite type of windows are the arched windows! But all of these are great! Especially the "Wall of windows from Bobby McAlpine looking onto the water.
oh my, that pool is simply fabulous!!! I love the wrought iron doors with thin panes--so elegant. Come visit me soon-Im hosting a giveaway today!
I couldn't live in a home that didn't have big windows... I so need the light to warm my rooms! Love all your picks, especially that porthole - wonderful windows all around!

That christina Murphy breakfast area is incredible!
You knocked it out of the park with this one Barbara!! Sensational big open and unique windows add so much drama not to mention natural light to a room. These are all sooo beautiful!
Gorgeous as always! I'm a huge fan of steel framed windows! If I had money to burn, and I don't, I'd replace our windows with steel windows! Since light is so important in a space, the more windows, the better!
Wow! Loved the oval windows next to the front door. You are right, a must have for my next house!
Also loved the rustic cabin windows. Loved the seating on the stone ground floor! But, all were beautiful. Thank you for posting!
This post is positively scrumptious, Barbara. I love huge expanses of windows, especially the steel framed ones that have minimal frames -- like the dining room attributed to John Saladino. But I agree with you that the image of the ivy-covered front entry with a wedding staircase and a pair of oval windows is just about perfect.
Best...Victoria
Great Post. I love these window (and the doors)(and SPACES!): it's all in the details. Thanks. Mary
I have to admit I have a crush on steel framed windows. I wish we could have put them in our home when renovating but they didn't go. Personally I would take any of these spaces!
I am most fond of metal windows especially if they have an arch..
beautiful examples of the many types to consider when building a home or remodeling one..
best,
maureen
I couldn't agree with you more - windows can make all the difference. I'm quite enchanted with the one with the tall rust colored curtains!
