Sometimes when you walk into a room you don't even notice a ceiling, but when it's remarkable even the most un-design oriented people comment. Here are a few that I think would impress anyone:
I'm partial to beamed ceilings in the living areas and barrel or coved ceilings in hallways.
How about you?

Well suffice to say I AM impressed. All beautiful...and I love the idea of treating a ceiling with as much attention and detail as the walls in the room. Even smaller details like a beautiful molding, or a ceiling medallion can add a lot of interest.
gorgeous pics and fine examples of ways to add interest to a room and draw the eye upwards...love trayed, coffered, groin vault and beamed ceilings especially...
best,

The second and the last are my favorites, but all of these rooms are amazing, Barbara.
Have a nice Thursday.

One of the things I don't love about our house is the ceilings - they are high, but look like Swish cheese with all the recessed can lights (not a fan!) If we were going to be here forever, we would undertake the huge project converting them to coffered in main downstairs spaces. But we don't plan to, so I just have to add it to the "next house" list! Oh well!
Absolutely gorgeous! That rug in the third one is amazing....love the scale...so hard to find that size. Also adore the last photo. Just pinned a few of that room myself for a future post. Really enjoyed this Barbara.

Ceilings are one of the most under utilized, under designed under decorated areas of a home. You've used wonderful examples showing how they can enhance a room decoratively and architecturally.
The second image shows how successfully one can tie a room together as a volume through it's ceiling treatment. I'm also drawn to the simplicity of all the groin vaults.
I guess the architectural side of me is shining through tonight, isn't it.
Cheers,
John
I love coved ceilings, especially the old ones with tons of patina or the exposed brick. Anything and everything looks fantastic underneath. Great images!! Mary
So many artistic ceilings. They truly look like a piece of art.
You got me on the first ceiling! It's a real beauty! I like any ceiling detail that looks like a real architectural element. So pretty!
Wow! Once again, you have found some incredible examples! Ceilings are so important to me in a house so I loved this post! I would never say no to beams but my favourite has to be the vaulted stone ceiling towards the bottom!
The brick ceiling is my favorite...trying to get back in the game. XO, Mona
