Love the European feel of this whole space and the mirror gives the wall some class...
A true outdoor room with the mirror adding to the overall feel.
Ideal for reflecting a beautiful setting.
A lovely mansard mirror - this must be in a warm climate!
So rustic and charming!
Looks like a restaurant but isn't this a lovely setting?
What a charming potting area!
Kinda fun...
A lovely, timeless, stately design.
A grouping of mirrors is a fun idea too...
More contemporary.
What a beautiful outdoor dining area!
I tore this out of a magazine years ago and scanned it in for my inspiration files.
Isn't this mirror's design lovely?

Arches are always a good idea in my book.

Beautiful images! I wish I had a place for an outdoor mirror!
I think they're pretty. I had an old mirror that was in the way inside my house (I had picked it up at a thrift store for $10). One day I just put it up on the wall of my patio to get it out of the way. It's been there ever since and I get more comments on it. It reflects some green on the expanse of brick.
not crazy in the slightest--they create magic and reflection and interest, and they don't lie!
i love these ideas!

An out door fire place. You are sooo lucky!!!
There's nothing inherently wrong with the idea of putting up an outdoor mirror. The question to ask yourself is whether it will enhance the character and charm of the brick fireplace and it's surrounding environs... Context... A wrought iron piece or a trellis of ivy might be an equally or more effective solution?
It's interesting to me is that in more than 50% of the pictures you put up, they are associated with places to sit in some form or other and are hung quite low. The one mirror hung over a fireplace is in a much more traditional setting, even though it is outside. Not sure what that's saying, but might be something to think about...
Cheers,
John
I love the idea of an outdoor mirror. I just wonder if it needs to be in a protected area. I guess that depends on the type of frame. An antique window with mirrors instead of glass. I guess it depends on the setting. It's a great way to reflect light and create the appearance of another space beyond. You go, girl!
I don't think you are crazy. I have a mirror on one wall of my lanai. It hangs above an upholstered daybed and it is made from an antique Indonesian window frame. I love the way it reflects the light.
I say follow your bliss, Barbara.

Barbara,
I really like that first image. What a wonderful idea to use a mirror to reflect the beautiful outdoor spaces.
YES YOU ARE lucky to have the outdoor fireplace. Many folks around here use an outdoor heating lamp which is NOT nearly as attractive.

Hi Barbara, Is the area where you envision the mirror under a roof, or is the area an open space. A covered patio or terrace would seem to be a great place for a mirror. An uncovered spot would be thinking more outside the box, but still not a bad idea. Besides, if you decided later that it's not working...you simply change it out. Have fun envisioning.

I love the idea of an outdoor mirror. I've been thinking of adding one to a wall along my own patio. The only problem in my case is that the view it would currently reflect is of the neighbor's house, and I want to see less of it not more. So no mirror for me until there's some mature landscaping to reflect. But overall I love the idea and I think you should go for it!!

Love this idea...that space with the grouped circle mirrors is so so perfect. Xo
Since we have such a small garden, I have been toying with the idea of hanging a mirror on the patio for a while to try and open up the space. These pics have just confirmed that that's exactly what I need to do! Love the space in the 3rd pic!
That is a tough choice, Barbara. I choose #10.
I love this idea.
Happy Friday.
