Fiery Feuerschalen

On a clear crisp autumn day last October, we went to a fantastic arts and crafts fair at an old monastery in the Bavarian countryside.  While there we discovered these artistic fire pits (Feuerschalen), designed and made by a German artisan.

I would Love to have an outdoor fireplace on the terrace of our future dream home, but in Oregon's climate it just isn't realistic.   However, having one of these would be perfect in the Spring/Fall seasons when we want to be outside in the evenings, but there is a chill in the air.  Take a look!

The artisan's name is Oliver Ritter (Ritter means "knight" in German - what a great last name!) and here is his website if you would like to see more examples of his work:  http://feuer-schalen.de/feuerschalen.html.

What do you think of this design?
