Maybe this trend was inspired by the uber-popular sunburst mirrors?
Or this insanely popular office that was all over blogland a while back?
For me personally, it could have begun with my finding this gilded antiqued mirror for Linen Haus...
Regardless, I'm loving it!
The classic: black and brass.
I really like it in a white kitchen with touches of green...earthy but a little upscale, too.
I love it with coral! It makes my coral, which is mounted on lucite, look a little tame.
How about just a touch on the inside of lampshades for some glam?
It highlights geometrics so beautifully.
A few years ago I would have still chosen zebra, but with a silver base.
Now, I'm not so sure...I'm thinking gold ups the ante a bit!
Another great example of a white/brass/green kitchen.
This would work beautifully in a 50's remodel.
I'm loving the gilded nesting tables for a touch of romance.
It is really growing on me. How about you?

I love gold and brass on all the furniture I even have some on the underside of two lampshades. But absolutely no to gold in the kitchen or baths it looks dated to fast. You've shown some beautiful examples.
ReplyDeleteLove it, just a touch makes for a dramatic and glamourous space. I like a slight antiqued effect also. Beautiful Barbara!
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to find gold and brass in the kitchen. That was a perfect photo of the kitchen to show its possibility. Now to be brave enough to do that! I like a mix of metallics in my home and adding more antiqued gold metallics might bring in flecks of sun too.
ReplyDeleteLove the gold and brass accents...Some beautiful examples here. Have a great weekend. Mona
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing more brass and gold. Lovely images!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteI'm lolling about your comment today!! I have to agree..
and loving these pics of gold and brass...bring it on!! love the way it adds a little pizzazz and just glistens and gleams..it also adds a little more depth to a design without overpowering or fighting for attention..
best,
maureen
Love your post on gilded metals/ gold. I am buying into it more and more and can't wait to add some in our new house (once we find it).
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely in love with gold accents right now - especially those black lamps with gold interiors. Swooon.
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I just submitted a product idea book for Houzz and I did it on gold accessories. I even used a couple of the same photos that you did. Good minds think alike!

Gorgeous!!! I love me some gold. Those book cases are stunning and I lovd the first photo. Thinking of re-doing a few things gold. Yikes i hope I dont go too crazy with the gold lol
ReplyDeletePerhaps it's the changing of the leaves to golden hues that make us admire these touches even more... Funny how we're drawn to gold and copper in the fall then silver and diamonds in the winter. Happy weekend, Barbara!

The warm tones of brass and gilding add warmth and sparkle to a room like no other. Your examples show it of so well! Stir in candle light - the evening goes over the top!
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether this is good or bad... Brass seems to be a staple of traditional New England decor. (Antique nickel has slipped in there of late...) We have to work on the gilding a little, unless it's a nice Federal Period mirror.
Have a sunny warm weekend!
Cheers,
John
I would say it has arrived! In fact, I'd include it as one of my five.
