Goodbye Munich, Hello Seattle!

I mentioned recently that I have some news...did that title give it away?  :)

It's actually not "goodbye" to Munich since we'll be back often to visit family and friends...and of course to shop for Linen Haus.  However, another chapter in our lives awaits us!

Yep, after several wonderful years in Europe, exploring as many nooks and crannies as we could possibly squeeze in during our time here, we are packing our bags and returning to the beautiful Pacific Northwest....

We are moving to Seattle - and soon!

Some of you know that I am originally from Oregon, but the job market has led us to Seattle - which I'm actually growing more and more excited about every day.  We are looking forward to exploring this beautiful city and calling it home.  While I have certainly visited Seattle before, I had never considered living there before, so I have a lot of homework to do!  If you have any fun (or practical) tips on Seattle, I'd love to hear them!

We are leaving Germany January 27, but we'll be taking a little detour between Munich and Seattle...here's a hint as to what we'll be up to:

More on that tomorrow!

I have an idea where your detour will take you, but I'll just wait to hear about it all from you.

Are you bringing the Cinquecento with you? It's so cute!

May success, happiness and prosperity follow you to Seattle!

  7. Congrats! We are 6 hours from Seattle and my son, the medical resident, lives there. So many great neighborhoods to explore and an excellent transit system! Oh the places you can go . . . . plus all the islands, mountain ranges, Oregon coast . . . .

  10. Hi Barbara. Congratulations! Just like re-arranging the furniture, change is good:) From your visual q's, one might think that you are travelling to Burma or Tibet...However, the Brian Gluckstein reference intrigues me....Brian is one of my favourite designers (and fellow Canadian!), so am wondering if you will be gracing our fair country. All the best!

  12. Congratulations. I have a dear friend that lives on Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle. Every time we've visited we've threatened to move up there...it's so beautiful and culture/food/fun filled.

  13. Hi Barbara! Just started following you and I am new to the blogging community. Welcome from Seattle! You will enjoy our unique take on design as well as our wonderful local cuisine. Seattle is a wonderful city with much to do - great theater, opera, antique shopping, and lovely clothing boutiques. You are also a ferry ride or quick sea plane away from the San Juan Islands. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Troverlesoleil.blogspot.com

  18. Congratulations. Seattle is a beautiful city. My son lived there for five years and we visited him. Great restaurants, lovely gardens. Pike's Market was great fun...a sophisticated city on a manageably small scale. I know you will love it.
    All the best...Victoria

  19. Wow, Barbara, what exciting news, and all happening so soon. Best of luck and keep us posted on your travels inbetween. Seattle sounds so far away to me, but at least in the blogworld, distance is of no consequence. x Sharon

  23. Hello and welcome to Seattle. I wandered here via Pintrest from a photo of Lake Como...yum! Anyhoo, from your blog I clicked on Seattle expecting to see old posts not recent ones....well low and behold, I live in Seattle. Actually Lake Forest Park, but you get the idea. So welcome, I'd love to know where you've settled and perhaps I can provide some insight into your new home. It should start warming up any day now....really.
