Today I thought I'd share a few of my favorite rooms where one of my favorite materials - grasscloth - is used. I still think I prefer earth tones the most, but some of these colors are pretty striking too! See what you think:
I have posted this picture before on this post, but the post would not be complete without the amazing look of metallic grasscloth - it's especially remarkable in contrast with rough elements like these.
I'm still trying to decide if this is pretty, or a little too "Hawaii 5-0" for me.

LOVE this look!
The masculine feel of this office really appeals to me and the grasscloth is the perfect backdrop for the ethnic pieces.

I find the texture and subtle elegance it brings to a room irresistable!
What do you think of it?
Hi Barbara...wow that really is a long holiday..well enjoy the no pressure time!
ReplyDeleteI love grasscloth, had it in my last house in the foyer and main hall and absolutely loved it, it made such a difference in how it warmed up the space and gave it such a lovely texture. I hope to use it again possibly somewhere in the new house!
Enjoy your "time off'...and all the best in 2012!
Beautiful examples and I agree with you Barbara, love grasscloth. We have it in a bathroom and want to use it as an accent wall in our bedroom. It really adds a warmth you don't get from anything else.
ReplyDeleteI missed your July post on the Crezana wallpaper so I'm glad you reposted that image. So beautiful and unique. And I love that image with the rough hewn desk. Beautiful!
ReplyDeletegrass cloth is a favorite!! and I love the nearly black that is sued in the powder room..the red is stunning in the bedroom as well...
ReplyDeletecan't wait to hear your fabulous news! I hope it's what I think it is!!
best,
maureen
We own a small ski condo and we put grasscloth in the living and dining area and it looks fantastic, really warmed up the space. Lovely and a happy new year to you.
ReplyDeleteBig news!?!? What a teaser!!! I can't wait to hear....assume it's good, and therefore am very happy for you :) Love the grasscloth, too!

I love grasscloth and have always wanted it in my foyer. It was really expensive at Williams Sonoma. Do you know where I can get it cheaper?
ReplyDeleteI love using grasscloth, it really adds so much interest and texture. Love that black powder bath image and the grasscloth in the back of the bookcase. Great examples!
ReplyDeleteWe have a grass cloth sample sitting in my pile of swatches that we are considering for little projects around the house - I love the texture it adds. Can't wait to hear what big news you have in store for us! Happy New Year, Barbara! XO
ReplyDeleteI love grasscloth. It was in my bedroom in our old house and it was such a wonderful surround...I miss it. I love the metallic in the bathroom. Rc'd your email. going to respond right away! Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite wall coverings. My parents had it all over their home in the 70s. Loved it than and now. Happy New Year Barbara.
ReplyDeleteLoving all these rooms, especially the colorful ones! Happy 2012, Barbara!

Wow! Lime green and red or metallic grass cloth...love it all! My only complaint is when it looks like stripes on a wall. I'm sure it's pricey too, but what's a little money got to do with anything, as long as I'm dreaming!
ReplyDeleteSally and I used to specified grass cloth by the yard when we did coprorate work - especially when we were designing executive floors for banks, or partner offices for law firms. It's ironic, because our residentail clients rarely express or show much interest in it.
ReplyDeletePersonally, we both love it! The pattens, textures and effects are unbelieveable - as your post so clearly shows.
We did do a powder room in black embossed leather tile recently... That was pretty cool!
Cheers,
John
I adore grasscloth. Had some in our first house, but none here. I would love it added some day.
ReplyDeleteOooh, feast for the eyes! I love grasscloth, especially in black (like that bathroom). Swoon!

Barbara, I've never tried grasscloth in my home, but I agree that it adds a lovely textural element to a room.
ReplyDeleteGreat examples!

Oh, I remember the 70's like Taylor ... my mom had grasscloth everywhere and it was so warm and cozy ... I am thrilled it is BACK!! I am dying to use it in my husband's home office and am just finishing a client's dining room in a Leff Joffa Stenciled Grasscloth ... so exciting and so beautiful! My little ones (not so much!) back to school today ... Good luck to you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a fan - I have it in my hallways and my daughter has it in her library and the warmth and texture is wonderful. Right now, I'm obsessed with the metallic grasscloth...fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE grasscloth! I have ever since I was 10 and my grandmother got a new kitchen with "Grasscloth" formica. I still love that. And I do kind of like the pineapples in the right place!
ReplyDeleteLove grasscloth, have used it many times. The only pic that did not sit well with me was the grasscloth in the powder room...please people think about practicality....We do need to wipe down walls! Sorry for the downer, I am function first:) The other pics were gorgeous, and may paint over existing blue grasscloth in my office, with a glaze metallic. Thanks!
