Organic elements like the wood bowls you've shown are becoming increasingly popular in today's interior design. I especially like those created from tree trunks. They have a sculptural, lyrical quality to them that I find extremely appealing. Have a lovely day, Barbara! Happy packing! ~ Wendi ~
love the sea grass rugs and the bamboo shades..and all the white stoneware/cream ware (can never tell the difference)... beautiful ideas... best, maureen
Gorgeous! Focusing on the simple and natural sounds like the right idea today, Barbara. I'm snowed in an fretting a bit about not being able to go to work. A good moment to take a deep breath, enjoy the natural beauty around me and trust that the rest will take care of itself! Happy packing!
I've always loved the simplicity of open shelves in a kitchen. How dishes, glassware, bowls, etc. can become little scupltural elements in the overall decor of a room. Sally reminds me of how much more dusting there would be, so the glass doors remain on in our kitchen...
The wooden bowls remind me of several my Mom made many, many years ago. I wonder if she still has them...
All so pretty! I liked the wooden bowls myself, until I started seeing cheap imitations at Marshall's. Yes, I love that gorgeous tree as well and all the neutral, natural finishes!
What beautiful images, Barbara, and I'm such a fan of open shelving in a kitchen. It would certainly make me more conscious of my New Year's Resolution of organization!
The older I get the more I crave simple, easy things. I have a small section of my kitchen with open shelving and it forces me to keep that area very organized.
You had me at simple and natural. Man, you have quite the eye, Ms. Barbara!
So, I want to talk about that awesome picure of the white shelves and white dishes with that dramatic black table cloth and the orange. Amazing styling there, wouldn't you say? Not an easy think to pull of when you block the color in one part of the photo. Camille

I like the placement of the tree, the bowls, and sea grass rug. Elegant and practical. Reminds me to incorporate more from the outside into my home!
