Designer Envy: Betsy Burnham

Do you already know the work of Betsy Burnham?  Chances are you  have seen a few of these spaces, but after I started looking through her work, I discovered a variety of rooms that I thought were really refreshing.  She adds a bit of punch to every room for a much more interesting look.  See what you think:

I am loving this mossy green for a pantry!

A great eclectic mix amidst traditional pieces and antiques keeps this room really fresh and vibrant.

The sconces!

Interesting, to say the least...

And here are her thoughts on color in design:

I can't say that all of her designs are totally my cup of tea, but I admire her work for being original and having a certain amount of edge.  What do you think?

  1. Absolutely love her take on color and could not agree more. I think color is today totally overdone in so many cases, and all this mixing of crazy patterns and colors is just not something I "get". She sounds like she knows what shes doing!

  2. yes yes yes, barbara. i love betsy's work! her teen daughter's bedroom is one of my all time favorites and was actually very colorful so this designer can do no wrong as far as i'm concerned.

  4. I like that there is a always a point of interest in every space - something eclectic and eye catching, and they way those colors do pop against the neutrals.
Hope you are enjoying this pretty, sunny morning, Barbara! XO

  7. I agree with you totally Barbara. Some of what she does is not totally my personal style but everything she does is fabulous! I love that entry...I think I just pinned that a day or two ago...

  8. I see real versatility in her work. The client's look and feel came first. DIfferent styles, expressed via the same design philosophy and thought process.

    Cheers,

  9. I love that she's creating original spaces. She doesn't seem to have a set style that you recognize in an instant...and I'm sure that keeps her clients happy that they have original spaces, too!!!

Also loving the new gray color in your bathroom. Very similar to the one I used in my powder bath. Very drawn to this dramatic, but not overpowering color!!

    Great job!
