Copper Patina

What better color than copper to inspire beautiful interiors for Fall?

I have always loved the patina of copper, especially after it has been exposed to the elements.  Even new, it's a truly stunning material. My parents have a copper roof over a bay window of their house and it just gets better and better with age. I started looking around for copper in design and came up with some beautiful finds! Let's take a look together:

Is there any better way to welcome your guests than a copper lantern?
It's a must in my next home...

Cozy and rustic - I love this look!

The patina on this copper siding is so beautiful...
wouldn't that be gorgeous on the right house?

One of my favorite places to use copper!

I found this a few months ago at a flea market for Linen Haus
I love the patina.  I'm still trying to decide if I can bear to part with it!

American Tin Ceilings

I saw tin ceilings on a lot of restored older homes when I lived in San Francisco. It's not used that often but I think it's a really great material for interest on a ceiling or as a backsplash...

This water feature would be great leading up to the front door, but I also think using copper for an outdoor shower (if your climate cooperates) would be really amazing too.

Learn 2 Play
I think this is SUCH a cool idea for a bar...not only a public one, but one at home!
My husband and I have an extensive coin collection from our travels and this picture has inspired me to try that out sometime soon...

Not sure if that is actually copper or just copper-colored rust.  :)

Interesting...chrome lighting mixed with a copper hood...hmmm...
It's a beautiful kitchen but I think I would have gone for rubbed bronze lighting for dark contrast or maybe the one below.  What would you choose?

  2. Copper = orange and orange always feel like a fall color to me... Our English cook insisted on shiny bright copper pots in her kitchens but I love the patina of aged copper in a home. That copper sink is fabulous! Happy weekend!

  3. I'm in love with all the copper accents. I have a copper sink in my kitchen and absolutely love it. It even has natural antibacterial properties...and added bonus to the beauty. Great post. Mona

  4. Oooh I love copper too! Don’t see enough of it. I also love it when it gets exposed to the elements. I saw some of the most amazing copper rooftops in Germany—most turned green. Very lovely. I’d really like that copper cookware, I wonder if it’s very good… I absolutely LOVE those copper faucets! Very cool post.

  6. I love the copper sinks and hoods, but my favorite copper pieces are sheffield plates objects whose silver has worn down and the warmth of the copper shines through. Great post. Mary

  7. I love the idea of a copper bath, and am lusting after a copper sink in the kitchen. I think my favourite image though is the weathered verdigris copper vessel holding wood. Lovely post! x Sharon

  8. Just about any visible copper left outdoors around here is looted by our dear friends, the druggies, but I do love it. I'll take one copper gas lantern, one copper bath tub and of course the sink...and oh, why not the hood! Lovely!
