I'll Be In The Bar

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great Mother's Day.

We are doing some remodeling on the new house and as part of that we are adding a small-ish bar/butler's pantry area off of our dining room.  It's been going on for two weeks now and I'm crossing my fingers that it will be complete by the end of this week!

Designing what we wanted prompted me to look around for some inspirations for great home bar areas.  Check out these fun inspirational bars (residential and commerical) and other bar-/wine-related deas:

I love the look of this bar!  Notice the worn finish on the stools and bar.

This was a great "wine wall" at a chic wine bar I visited on my trip to Amsterdam in May of last year.

A great non-permanent solution...

Ours will have a shelf across the top with three units like this - I am excited about this fun detail!

So fun!

What's the coolest bar (in terms of design) that you have ever been to?

Sounds like a fun project - I hope it doesn't take you as long as it took us to choose bar stools. (We were in our house nearly 4 years before they arrived!) I have to admit, I don't get out to bars much in Seattle these days. Favorite bar ever is the Hemingway Bar in the Paris Ritz and the Buddha Bar was amazing in it's day (a friend who lives in Paris told me it's still packed). Pulling up a stool at the delicious L'Atelier Joel Robuchon was highlight of this Paris trip!

Cheers to Monday!! XO

there is a very cool bar (in every way) called Bernard's in the Waldorf Astoria Chicago (formerly the Elysian). you would love it, and it just oozes sexiness and understated charm.

we have a small butler's pantry bar area off our kitchen that needs a little improvement. we have the mini wine frig (which i say spend as much $$ as you can on because i'm so glad we did years ago), but we need a backsplash, and i'm leaning toward a travertine and seaglass mosaic.

smiles to you!

What a fun project, Barbara!!!

Coolest bars to me:
Hotel Costes in Paris
Fearings at the Ritz Carleton, Dallas
Mansion at Turtle Creek, Dallas
Rose Bar at The Grammercy Hotel in NYC!

Cheers to your project and a wonderful week!

My fav is in the back of Salem Wine Imports right here in Salem. It has that "thrown together" feel that is so comfortable. Quiet, unpretentious - "worn out" table with a few stools, maps of the various wine regions of the world and of course - fantastic wine to taste. The company's not too shabby either...

For pure theater, nothing can beat the wine angels retrieving wine from the 4 story high wine "cellar" in the Aureole in the Mandalay Bay.

I love the humor of your last picture!!!

Cheers,
jk

The light fittings in the first picture are my favourite! I love how they tie in with the distressed/industrial feel of the whole bar! I'll be crossing fingers that your project is ready for the end of the week too!

Fun post! My favourite bar was the "champagne" bar at the top of one of the runs at St.Moritz...the bar was carved out of ice! Looking forward to seeing your new bar:)
