Flea Market Finds: French Gilded Mirrors and More!

I went to another great flea market over the weekend and found some great treasures!  These are just a few of the finds that I am starting to build up in my inventory.  I am getting so excited because my online shop, Linen Haus, will be opening soon and items like this will be for sale!  More details on Linen Haus coming soon...

This french-style gilded mirror has a beautiful antiqued patina with  subtle red accents on the frame.  I loved it from the moment I saw it!

This french vintage poster of a hot air balloon ride - a set of three that I purchased - is so charming.  I think they'd be perfect in a boy's adventure-themed bedroom or a powder room with grey and soft yellow accents!

This fabric (brand new) feels so good to the touch and would make stunning pillows.  The embroidered coral pattern adds dimension against the icy blue.

A one of a kind-find:  a flask made in Spain.  This would be a perfect gift for a bachelor or part of styled bookshelves along with architectural salvage, old books, etc...

Another of the three framed vintage posters.

Gorgeous, brand new, Jane Churchill Delphos medium weight linen fabric.
The color is vibrant and the pattern so versatile - I couldn't resist.

If you're interested in me stocking anything in particular, I would love your feedback!  It would help me so much to know what types of items would be most attractive to you and/or your clients.  Please leave it in the comments section or email me.  Thanks!

Spain on the Brain

We just booked our tickets for our trip to Madrid and now Spanish design is all I can think about!  Here are some beautiful Spain-inspired settings that I love...

{Brown Designs}
I love this look - varied tiles incorporated into the steps.
And of course zebra ottomans which (I think) are always a good idea!

Add a nice, cold, blended drink of any kind and I'm done!

The lighting, the window, the chairs, even the wallpaper...it's all good.

I love all of these accents - especially the carved statue toward the front - but I think I'd add a bit of color or white to lighten up the room.  I can already smell the paella...

{Brown Designs, Inc.}
A fountain and a gravel walkway - both add the right sounds to set a
soothing mood leading up to a home!

{El Mueble Magazine}
A modern take on Spanish design from one of my favorite magazines.
I fall for beamed ceilings every time!

{El Mueble Magazine via Eclectic Revisited Blog}
That abstract art!!!

That tufted long ottoman is so great, and would go so well in many spots
around the house...entry, dining room, bedroom.

What do you think of Spanish Design?
And does it work with the home styles in your neighborhood or for your clients?

Doorways

As we have traveled through Europe over the last few years I have been drawn more and more often to the architecture of each place.  I started taking pictures of doors in particular and have accumulated quite a collection!  I love the mystery of what might lie behind a door - especially those that are as old as these are!  Who has gathered there? What are their stories?  What brought them joy and sorrow?  What were their dreams?   Perhaps these will provide some exterior inspiration for some of you...

We stayed at a beautiful hotel in Arles, France last June and had fresh croissants for breakfast in their sublime courtyard.  I saw this door with hydrangeas blooming next to it and snapped a picture to remember the experience.  My husband and I still reminisce about that breakfast!

Barcelona, Spain September 2009.  Notice that there is a smaller door opening for people and a larger one - big enough for carriages.  The doors lead to an inner courtyard for green space.  This is a common design in Spain and a great one for city living.

I love this picture from Berlin (2009) because I feel like it
sums up the city well with all of its edginess and energy.

Eze, France June 2010...a small hill town overlooking the coast of southern France.

Hall, Austria 2008 - a small town outside of Innsbruck.
I think this is where the door infatuation began...

London, England April 2010.  This is pretty much London in a nutshell, right?

Mallorca, Spain March 2008.  These doors inspired my Dream House front door!

Lisbon, Portugal June 2009.  I could go on and on about Lisbon.  More posts on that soon!

Venice, Italy July 2010.  Notice the steps leading right into the water...

 Revaz, Switzerland June 2010 - a picturesque wine growing town
on the edge of Lake Geneva.

Kotor, Montenegro August 2010.  This town, and the
stunning fjord surrounding it, really surprised us with its beauty and charm!

Does anyone else out there share my love of doors?  My husband thinks I'm crazy, but he stops every time we pass a door when traveling and asks if I want to take a picture. :)  Does anyone out there have any great ideas for how to showcase these great shots and the memories that go along with them?
