Today I'm Loving...

...this bar area.  It has a tropical feel that can transport us from the dreariest winter evening to a lush, warm island!  Notice that the room itself isn't spectacular, but the lush greenery, statement rug and unique table create a great vibe...something anyone can recreate in the humblest of spaces.

Sorry for the short post today - my normal life outside of blogging has been particulary busy lately!
In addition, I've been working on putting the finishing touches on Linen Haus so I can open very soon - I'm getting very excited and I can't wait to share it with all of you!
I have also been finding and prepping several new products to round out my inventory - I have some beautiful additions to show.   More on that tomorrow!

House Of Windsor

Below are my favorite shots from the House of Windsor.  Some of the rooms were not to my taste, but all of the following spaces had details or an overall feel that I really appreciated in some way.  Let's take a look and see if you agree:

This is my favorite room in the house!  What an intriguing space, with so many details and fresh ideas.  The mix and match chairs are so great, and I'm really loving the eat in kitchens that seem to be popping up more and more often.  More on that in a future post!

The earthy colors in here really make the room cozy and liveable...
The art, balanced by those great columns, really makes the room!

 A luxury bathroom, to the max.
The elements that caught my eye were that zebra rug, the stools and that antiqued mirror screen.
Although would any of you really like seating for at least three people to sit there while you are in the tub?  Not me...

I was happy to see they didn't go totally over the top outside to keep the effect serene and claming.  It lets the architecture do the talking:  the oval window, courtyard-like area and bench seating are all such nice design elements.  And a table next to the outdoor fireplace?  Fab.

What a playful, casual, FUN space!  It feels very fresh without being too childish...

Another earthy room but the jewel-toned velvets take it up a notch.
And don't miss those amazing floors.  I saved a picture of the rooms empty just so I could remember those floors for my inspiration files.  :)

Head over to House of Windsor for the full tour.
I'd love to hear which room - from these or otherwise - is your favorite!

BTW, you can now also follow me on Pinterest here.
I am just getting started but will be adding to my favorites regularly...more coming soon...:)

Colorways: Beautiful In Blue

Here is my current round up of blue rooms that I think are really gorgeous.  I know some of these have circulated in blogland already, but hopefully some will be new to you and provide some inspiration!

El Mueble

Many beautiful elements in this room caught my eye - the arches, the side table and of course, the art...it reminds me a bit of Gaugin...

A beautiful traditional interior with mint julep cups - one of my faves.

Beautiful art...

I know this room doesn't have a lot of blue, but that cobalt color is so striking
 with the brown.  And that bench!  I love it.

Tropical Inspiration

Today I am dreaming off far away tropical beaches and the fantastic interiors that go along with them...the dark woods, white walls, textural fabrics and lush greenery add up to some pretty amazing spaces.

Would you like to come along with me to decorate a beautiful home in paradise?  If so, get your daquiri with the little umbrella ready!

I adore this room with its hints of Spanish, African,
Asian and - of course- tropical elements.
It's a little bit of a lot of great things!!

Black and White

Today I pulled together a few striking rooms that emphasize black and white, as well as some of my favorite black and white accents right now.  Enjoy!

I love that unique table and eagle statue, set against those
amazing windows and beautiful curtains.

 Entries are such a great place to make a bold statement
and these chairs make all the difference!

 I am seriously considering a bench  like this for my own home...
I love the greek key of course, but it also looks so cozy in this bedroom!

{Cathy Echols}
This room sets such a sultry, sexy mood - love it!

 This room emphasizes the white of the b/w pairing, with the black grounding it and giving it sophistication.  It's so gorgeous and feminine without the foof - I like it.

{via Decorista}
I'm always a sucker for zebra, but how refreshing is this to combine such earthy elements with the black and white?  It warms it up considerably.

{Graham and Greene}

This is Meg's beach house, if you haven't already seen it.  This house had me coming back again and again, trying to soak up all of the details that make it amazing...

What do you like to do with black and white?

The Layered Look

Anthropologie is on location in Columbia (on my travel wish list for sure) for their latest catalog.  There are some fantastic images to be found!

I saw this picture today and really liked the idea of hanging various curtains side by side.  We have all seen curtains over blinds or shades, or even one in front of another, but I would love to try out layering various patterns of curtains like this.  It looks bohemian here (of course since it's Anthro) but it could be done in all sorts of ways with all styles of fabrics for really cool effects.  It would look amazing on a large wall of windows, but it would be a great way to add a lot of interest to a small or simple space that lacks architectural detail.  Such a simple idea that has tons of possibilities!

I played around with some ideas and thought I'd share a few with you.  I had to stop myself from creating more and more combinations!  All of the fabrics are from the Quadrille website unless otherwise noted:

What would you do with this idea?
