Serenity In The Garden

I don't know what's up with me lately...I am drawn more and more often to outdoor designs rather than interiors...I don't recognize myself!  I promise this blog won't turn into a gardening blog (no one would want that :)), but I do love a beautiful exterior as much as a beautiful interior....just not the maintenance!  So put practicality aside and dream with me...

Wouldn't this be a heavenly place to spend an afternoon?

I love the Scandinavian slant to this little space, but could easily see this as a view of Puget Sound...serenity at its best!

I love the garden posts - especially since it's summer and I want to spend all my time outside (even though the weather doesn't always cooperate). Our outdoor spaces need some love, so I'm happy to have a little inspiration.
Sun is coming tomorrow, Barbara! XO

Love the 3rd image by Mark Sykes. Had to pin it.

Given that our poor gardens have been neglected while we were away and we've received a ton of rain, our outdoor havens have become forests of weeds... Would give anything to have a talented gardener on hand! These are lovely spaces, Barbara.

Hi Barbara,

Yes! I think there is much more emphasis on outdoor living and blending environments. Love the first two images - wow!

For me, living in the pacific northwest has created an even greater appreciation for the summer gardening season and time spent outside.

We broke down and finally bought an area heater this summer. Best thing we ever did! This summer has been cooler than most. Hopefully August and September will be less overcast .

maybe because you live in one of the top garden regions in the country? our landscape professional orgz. took a tour of seattle region gardens, hands down the best i have seen in this country.
plus as a designer, you have to appreciate this other opportunity to practice your craft barbara!

first and last image took my breath away!

Barbara, I loved this post! My goal for certain rooms is to "bring the outside in " at all times! This is gorgeous and I think it definitely falls into the same category as interior design! They both compliment each other…you wouldn't want one without the other!

You always find the loveliest images! I'll just dream along with you and enjoy these stunning outdoor spaces. They're so much less maintenance than the real thing!

I am feeling the same way lately! Maybe because I have been working so hard in my own yard this summer. Beautiful images!

Hi Barbara, maybe it's got something to do with summer? :-) I love these gorgeous pictures, and especially the one with the old French looking fountain. That is my ultimate favorite! Wish I had one like that in my own garden... ;-)

WOW!!! You have been busy while I've been away, Barbara! I need to do some serious catching up on my reading!!! I'm like you - the outdoors pulls at me this time of year. My theory is because we have four seasons, which makes us appreciate the summer, with it's warm sunshine, lush colors, etc. even more because we know in a few short months, it will be gone...

Cheers,
John

There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.
I love garden that watching it can be calming.
