Favorite Things: Courtyards

One thing that makes me melt every time I see it - whether it's part of a home, hotel or restaurant - is a courtyard.  Do you love them too?  Here are a few of my latest favorites:

OK this isn't a courtyard but I love how the house is wrapping around the pool for a similar feel...

Barbara,
I love courtyards almost anywhere I've seen them. My friend just built a home with a beautiful courtyard. Such a clever way to provide a view for so much of the house.

I love courtyards. I had two beauties with stone walls and stone staircases to the backyard when I lived in upstate New York. Here in SW Florida my version of a courtyard is a lanai nestled between two wings of my house. On the plus side, the weather is lovely here and I can use the space almost daily.
I think what appeals to me most about courtyards is the elegant flavor of Italy or France they impart to a home.

Yes, courtyards are on the top of my priority list for my dream home! I also love the "around the pool" area as well and I guess that's what we've focused on these past 15 years. If and when we do move…I want only a courtyard! These are fabulous examples, Barbara! Hope you are doing well!
