Eye On Vancouver: Beautiful Homes

As I said in my post on Monday, we just returned from a long weekend in Vancouver.  What a gorgeous city with tons of waterways and beautiful outdoor spaces, but also neighborhoods with beautiful homes!

We stumbled upon the most idyllic neighborhood near Kitsilano Beach while we were up there.  I absolutely loved this neighborhood and here are some reasons why:  The houses were large, but not ridiculously so.  They were also all slightly different, but all in good taste (at least in my opinion!).  I was impressed that they were all beautifully maintained - unlike in Seattle, where even in the nicest neighborhoods you get the occasional neglected home or eyesore.  Lastly, they all had gorgeous gardens and charming tree lined streets.  Let's take a look together, shall we?  :)

A lovely traditional home...

Beautiful detailing around that stately front door!

All of the streets had this lush greenery arching over the streets - how charming!

I always melt over a round window, and how about those hydrangeas and boxwoods?

A lovely little terrace above the front door...

This one really drew me in with its masculine appeal.  Don't miss that great little seating area upstairs...I presume off of the master bedroom.

The same house around the corner...it's a stunner!

This one reminded me of some of the Munich mansions I had shared with you all quite a while ago...so grand.

I hope you enjoyed the tour.  Any favorites?

A Brick House...

There's something so stately about using brick in design...take a look at some of these beauties:

Even just as a border...

One of my *all time* favorite spaces...the washed brick is divine!

Is there such a thing as too much brick?  Perhaps...

Clever!

Lovely and soft...

Just in case you're interested.  :)

Great surround for the oval window!

Steel doors and this brick design give a more modern, Euro look.

Wishing you a lovely day!

More European Doorways

If you have been following my blog (and specifically my travels) for a while now, you know how much I enjoy photographing spectactular architecture and especially doors...  You can see the first post I did about doors from my travels the last few years in Europe here.

I have put together a few more from our more recent adventures, plus a few going back a while, to add to the collection.  I hope that some of these doors speak to you, as they did to me, and that perhaps they will provide some European-style entryway inspiration, too!
