Weekend R&R

Happy Friday Everyone!  Today's post was delayed because we have some remodeling going on in the house and the internet connection got messed up.  However, here I am as the week comes to a close.  :)

First of all I wanted to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU to those that were so kind to leave a comment and/or send emails in support of my decision that I posted about yesterday.  I really, really appreciate it.  Your perspectives meant so much to me, reassuring me that following my instincts was the right thing to do.  So...Thank You.

We have a very low key weekend ahead...hopefully we won't be working too hard on the never-ending house do list; rather just resting, relaxing and maybe a bit of Cinco de Mayo festivities.  :)   In light of R&R I thought a few images along those lines might be nice.

I could sit here forever, as long as someone kept bringing me yummies on a tray that looked like this...

OK maybe I'd better get up off the couch once in a while and enjoy that sea breeze up close.  Maybe I'll wander over to these benches...

That's so true, isn't it??

I'll be back on Monday with some exciting news about Linen Haus!

Colorways: Beautiful In Blue

Here is my current round up of blue rooms that I think are really gorgeous.  I know some of these have circulated in blogland already, but hopefully some will be new to you and provide some inspiration!

El Mueble

Many beautiful elements in this room caught my eye - the arches, the side table and of course, the art...it reminds me a bit of Gaugin...

Suzanne Kasler

A beautiful traditional interior with mint julep cups - one of my faves.

Beautiful art...

I know this room doesn't have a lot of blue, but that cobalt color is so striking
with the brown.  And that bench!  I love it.

I had a blue kitchen once but it didn't look good like this one...

Subtle Beach Inspired Decorating Ideas

Below are a few rooms I have come across lately, or re-discovered, that evoke a beach feeling without being totally over the top.  For me that's the perfect reminder on a rainy Summer day - and we have had a lot of those in Munich this Summer!

A Touch Of White Decor

I have the color white on my mind today, so that inspired a few of my favorite images that are based on white...enjoy!

Lynne Nigro
Choosing white for a housewares piece means that the design will really stand out!

A traditional, and absolutely lovely, use of white.
I love the hints of nautical with the sea accents, as well as
a bit of colonial through the asian-inspired blue vessels...gorgeous!

I used to think that black and white was too stark but my opinion
is definintely shifting...especially when I saw how amazing these super-dark
chevron floors pop against the white walls.

Ralph Lauren
Of course Ralph Lauren gets white right, pairing it with these gorgeous blues...

White with mostly neutrals and a pop of color - gorgeous!

This is one of my all-time favorite images...
It combines many of my favorites in decor:  the silver lamp for some classy traditional element, the buddha for a bit of exotic global influence and the sea...

Caesarstone
I have been eyeing this white caesarstone for a while now...I don't know what it looks like in person but I like what I see online!

Carol Reed
You can't go wrong with beautiful textured white linens!

Books, Books Everywhere!

Hi Everyone!  Sorry I have been MIA for a few days.  My sister is visiting from the US so we have been out and about enjoying Munich and beyond!

I'll be back in full swing this weeked but until then here are some ideas for using books in all styles of spaces.  We all know how personal and beautiful a space can be when it is filled with books but I continue to be amazed at how versatile they can be.  No matter what your design style is or what type of space it is, books just plain "work".

Here are a few rooms that make this point beautifully for some new inspiration, spanning a variety of styles:

Feminine...

Eccentric Intellectual...

and Traditional.

I'm sure there is more but these are a few examples to start with!

Designer Envy: David Jimenez

A few photos from one of my favorite designers:  David Jimenez.  I love how he combines traditional with a bit of modern and some high and low design solutions.
See what you think...
