Dreamy Dressing Rooms

Most of us probably have some type of fancy function to go to this holiday season, or perhaps dressing up for some festivities hosted at home with family or friends.  That got me thinking about some lovely dressing room ideas I have been collecting.  Take a look and dream with me for a while!

I have been seeing this idea several places lately - using beautiful fashion bags as art - how perfect in a dressing room!

A black dressing room would set the perfect sultry mood for getting dressed for a romantic date.

 A clever use of a small alcove.

 

I think this is such a great idea:  using beautiful wallpaper on the cabinets for a clean and stylish look.

Love the mirrored dresser in this setting!

A great solution for handbag storage, regardless of how glam your current closet is!

Great lighting, fresh flowers, candles - perfect!

Tropical Inspiration

Today I am dreaming off far away tropical beaches and the fantastic interiors that go along with them...the dark woods, white walls, textural fabrics and lush greenery add up to some pretty amazing spaces.

Beautiful, Unique Wallpaper from Crezana

I have been in love with the office below for a while but didn't have a source until recently.  The combination of grasscloth and metallic is so stunning and as a contrast to the rough table...  It's perfection in my book!

Once I had the source, that led me to the website for Crezana of course!  They have such unique patterns and textures for truly beautiful decor.  They can even customize colors and textures to meet your decorating scheme...with ikat, croc, even nailhead detailing...so beautiful!

There are also some great styling techniques at work here too - lots of great ideas just from the settings they choose to highlight their beautiful wallpaper ideas:

A Stencil Solution

Amber at Amber Interiors Blog just posted a very cool way to customize curtains with great stenciling techniques.  Check it out if you haven't seen it already!   I have only stenciled things for my kids but her post inspired me to look in a different direction.  It got me looking and I found a lot of really great patterns on the web that look strikingly similar to some of my favorite wallpapers right now.  If you aren't really ready/willing/able to commit to wallpaper, maybe stenciling is the way to go...look here to see what I mean:

I think this basket-weave has a Williams-Sonoma feel to it.  Very classic.

This pattern is a little earthy and has some movement - very pretty. 

I think I'd do it in some dark earth colors to give it more depth - chocolates, olive green (sorry for the pun) and maybe some black to ground it.

A bit of metallic - very cool for an entry or a dining room!

Or, with black and silver for an uneventful - turned stunning - hallway.

Green Energy

Spring is starting to show its early signs here in Munich and everything is starting to come back to life.  I love this time of year where everything feels fresh and energetic again!  Here are a few green-infused tables settings, rooms and more...

I love the organic feel of this setting.  This reminds me very much of San Francisco dining at its best:  very sophisticated, yet also natural and unintimidating.
Oh, and slate placemats...very cool. 

I think I'd add some chalk for some fun doodling by my guests during dessert!

This would be a really easy tablescape to make, using anything from

your garden or a nearby forest. 

It instantly spring wakes up the room!

This combination of chocolate brown and mossy green, mixed with a

variety of textures for interest, is always a winning combination. 

The dark wood is such a nice contrast to the soft greens...feels a bit colonial to me.

I have a similar chandelier (set on a dimmer switch of course) and I LOVE it!

Look at how pretty the greens are against the mercury glass - so nice.

I actually have a large green bottle similar to the one shown here,

purchased at the local flea market that I wrote about here.   

I am going to miss that market when we move back to the US!

I love how the green vase pops against the neutral sofa and the ikat pillows.

This image inspired me to hunt down some ikat fabric on our

trip to Turkey that I blogged about here.

 Green always looks great with linen - it's the earthiness that they have in common.  I'd add a bit more interest though with some pillows, maybe in this fabric:

but how stunning is that foliage outside the gorgeous window?? 

I would love to have this room to one side of my entryway. 

It's a good reminder to keep in mind how the outdoors "decorate" our interiors, too!
