As part of our honeymoon in Thailand, my husband and I visited the famous, exotically elegant Jim Thompson flagship store. Mr. Thompson lived for a good part of his life in Asia, at which time he recognized the beauty of Thai silks and a textiles empire was born. Today, his stores, restaurants and fabrics reflect his fascinating life, which included international travel, espionage and even a mysterious disappearance at the end of his life. You can read more about him here.
I wish I had been blogging at the time we went to the store so I could have shared some personal pictures of the experience with you. However, I pulled together a few images to inspire you and give you a flavor of his style:

So, what do you think? Intriguing?

Even before living in Thailand I loved his fabrics...now with his outlets close by I am always in trouble!
I just upholstered two sofas in fabulous JT fabrics but have had to then repaint and rethink each room...such fun!
Wow Thailand...so exotic!! I am not familiar with him but love his dramatic and exotic over the top style..beautiful!
he sounds like quite the interesting man....and love the designs.. the little bit of exotic essence is refreshing and yet inspiring...

I agree, he was ahead of his time. Such a creative designer. Love the images.
Ooooh! That chandelier in the first pic is gorgeous!! I love the somewhat rustic / global style. Very lovely!
The setters are stunning! Thailand is on "the list" for me one day. What a memorable place to get married!
I have such huge respect for talent that is ahead of it's time. Very lovely style.
