The Romance Of Lanterns: Part I

I've had a little...well, ok, huge...love affair with lanterns going for a while now.  I just love the magic that they add to a space - indoors or out.  In my future home I hope to have one on each side of our front door for an elegant, European feel.

I my current home, I have one that I keep inside and move around for various vignettes, and a set of two oversized ones outside on my front doorstep.  I change out the colors and fillers with the seasons:  white candles with fresh fir boughs in Winter (they look great in the snow!), fresh green candles in Spring, light blue candles with shells in the Summer, and currently rusty burnt orange candles with polished rocks.

Because of my love affair, I have collected many images.  I am going to break this up into manageable parts, so this is just the beginning.  :)  More to come in another post soon!  Enjoy...

I think that Casamidy makes some of the must unusal, beautiful lanterns out there...

YES I do!! This might be one of my favorites posts of yours yet. I actually have a fetish for them, I would have them in every room if my husband would let me!! I will have them outside, in my kitchen, covered porch and hopefully in a few other places....these are all stunning!

I've had a huge lantern crush for a while too, and it only gets worse the more beautiful specimens I see. (thank you very much lol). But seriously, the lantern in the first pic is so amazing, and I LOVE kitchen lanterns! And outdoor lanterns of course.. okay, I love them all! In fact, I bought for lanterns last week =) Can't wait to see more!!

I share your love of lanterns, and would have them in more rooms if it wouldn't be overboard. Gorgeous images...

How can you NOT love lanterns, eh, Barbara? You find the most gorgeous pictures! And you're so good about giving credit for sources. I would love to see how you organize all the info! I need a class/semester on this!

I agree! Lanterns add a little bit of charm and whimsy. They are also romantic looking. I love them, but its funny, I don't have one in my home. I guess I am going to have to buy one.
